Since 1971 Spring Valley AFJROTC has been carrying out the mission of all JROTC programs – developing better citizens of character, dedicated to serving their nation and community.
The program simply aims to produce a better quality of people, of American citizens. Designed to teach each cadet personal skills that are vital to success in any field, we are the catalyst that eases the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Our instructors bring their knowledge of military customs, decorum, and discipline to the forefront of the classroom.
Rick Mantei is a proud and active supporter of Spring Valley High School’s JROTC program, working closely with Major Gregory Perry, who leads the program with dedication and excellence. Rick’s involvement has become a meaningful part of the cadet experience—offering not only encouragement, but unique opportunities that leave a lasting impact.
Through regular donations, flight experiences in his vintage PT-17 Stearman Biplane, and personal mentorship, Rick is deeply invested in supporting the education, leadership development, and future goals of the cadets. His flights serve as more than just thrilling moments—they spark inspiration, open doors to new possibilities, and help young people see the value of service, discipline, and pursuing their dreams.
